The superyacht
Teak deck, open water, and overprotective dog.
Where you are
The flag deck of a 156-metre motor yacht, far out on open water on a clear day. You throw across the oiled teak towards the port rail, with music playing on deck. Past the board a woman takes the sun on a sofa with a spritz, a scarlet macaw preens on the rail beside her, and a German shepherd lies at her feet. There is no backstop: an overthrow flies on across the deck.
What happens here
- Throw long and land near the sofa, and the dog gets up, fetches your bag and lays it down beside where it lies.
- Two cornholes in a row and the dog jumps up to celebrate.
- Miss twice in a row and a gull crosses the lane and leaves its mark on the teak.
- Once a match, a gull may swoop in and steal a missed bag before the dog gets to it.
- Three board prints, one drawn per match: the yacht club, the macaw, and the dog’s paw prints.
